Parents do not have to work in this program
St. Paul Co-operative Nursery School is licensed by the State of Ohio in compliance with the State code and regulations governing pre-schools.
St. Paul Church Co-operative Nursery School was started in 1971 for children of the community. A co-operative school is one in which the parents are involved in the educational aspects and responsibilities of the school. Each mother or father will help in the classroom 6-7 times a year as a parent helper. Each family also will take one turn a year on our Housekeeping Committee.

The teachers, qualified in education and experienced in the art of understanding and working with children, are eager to make your child’s first learning experience away from home a pleasurable one. The teachers seek to provide your child with an environment in which he/she feels free to explore the wonder of the world around him/her; learns to work in community with others; and establishes a sense of self-worth and value as a child of God. The teachers are assisted in their efforts by the active participation and support of the parents in the classroom. The educational program is overseen by the Board of Christian Education and the Nursery School Director.

RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION: St. Paul Nursery School is an inter-denominational school which is made up of students reflecting the diversity of people in our community. We are, however, a Christian Nursery School and seek to instill in our students a set of values that is suitable for everyone’s way of life. Prayers are said before meals. We also observe the major Christian holidays.
At three, four and five years of age we feel that such religious values as love and acceptance, caring and concern for other people are best learned in a concrete manner by actually experiencing these values on a day to day basis. Therefore, we try to structure our programming so that your child will experience love and acceptance personally as they are involved in the classroom setting.

SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Our program prepares the child socially, intellectually, and physically for Kindergarten, through various
readiness activities. These readiness activities are promoted mostly through play which is an integral part
of our program.
A typical daily session includes the following:
FREE TIME: When the child moves freely from one interest center to another, exploring, experiencing,
testing, asking questions, and sharing information. Each child sets his own timetable as he uses: blocks,
scissors, clay, paint, musical instruments, books, small puzzles, etc.
TEACHER DIRECTED ACTIVITIES: When children are encouraged to explore their environment
through songs, stories, music, art, field trips, and group learning experiences.
CLEAN UP: When the children assist the teacher and mother/fathers in putting away the
various
classroom materials.
SNACK TIME: When the children share a treat that one of the mothers/fathers has provided or that
they have created as part of their cooking experience.
PLAYTIME: When the children engage in outdoor or indoor unstructured and structured large muscle games and activities.
